Shiei no Sona Nyl Webnovel: Extra Chapter 2

Chapter of this part can be read here.

---A certain day, a certain month in 1908.

---Somewhere in Los Angeles.

The first thing Investigation Detective Monica Nouvelberg did was question their sanity by making themselves realize they were in a dream and that they were sleeping peacefully at home in their bed following the words they never expected to receive in the past few days. They tried to imagine they were asleep, that this was just them daydreaming but it was real.

It was impossible.

There was almost no uncertainty that Lady E would lose her life.

The CIG Directive. The single woman. The Assassination Cult.

It didn't seem as though there was any hope in her surviving and, above all, even if her life was taken, let alone in the unlikely event she managed to be saved, there was no way this sort of information should have reached them is what Monica thought.

Though it was possible to make some guesses by carefully looking into the CIG's trends and power distributions, once a request has been made to those outsiders, Bloody Tongue, there's no way the CIG can take action any longer from that point on. There's not a lot to understand on that.

Even so---

The information arrived.

This wasn't a matter of their P Detective Agency's superior intelligence capabilities being demonstrated.

It was the other way around.

The information.

In other words---

"The cult of the Bloody Tongue has been crushed."

"For the past two days, the religious cult has been attacked and destroyed in various countries."

"Members of the cult at their base's have been injured and arrested by police organizations in various countries."

"Sighting Information."

"There's a consistency of only a single attacker near the cult's base's."

"There's always been one person being seen.
Someone tall, with white clothing that stood out in the dark."

They were the acts of lightning.

These acts of destruction are violent as to stir one to tremble in fear.

Buildings were being destroyed. Vicious criminals were being rounded up.

Such a conspicuous trick was impossible to ever forget.

The White Man was back.

They were a person of significance whose whereabouts are being tracked by intelligence and information organizations of developed countries. And so they were---

A person of legend.

Many have shrugged their shoulders and dismissed him as nothing more than a fairy tale.

After all, he wasnt' a wanted man. This was because their name wasn't known. Apparently, there were people who had come forth to claiming they met the man directly and even given their name, but the one they brought forth was that of a historical figure from the past and not of a pseudonym. Thus, they couldn't just them on a watchlist just by their name alone, and instead were constantly called another name due to the rarity of their existence.

One they went by that was officially registered in each organization.

The White Man.

Could it be that he has returned after six years of silence?---

"It couldn't be that simple."

"B-but---"

"It just cannot."

Selma spoke as they slapped them.

The reason she had such a displeased look wasn't because Monica didn't compliment her on how cute the tattoo sticker on her cheek was.

It was because Monica was losing it.

For starters---

"For starters!
Could anyone truly be able to move across the world in two days back and forth!?"

"Perhaps only the White Man could do it."

"That can't be!"

"Then there has to be more than one of them..."

"There's no such thing as a White Man.
It's just as the organization said. You shouldn't believe in a fairy tale, Monica."

"But--"

"But nothing!"

But...

But...

Maybe the legend did return.

That's what Monica couldn't cease their thoughts on. When Monica started out as an investigation detective, it wasn't for the United States nor were they certainly doing it as a spy, but for a larger perspective. They chose this job because they wanted to do this for someone, a person whom they do not know.

There were several reasons for that.

Why do it for someone they do not know?

Can it not be someone you know? And so on.

Monica had reason to answer them.

But it wasn't one that they were talking about right now.

Regardless of how it may be, the White Man was Monica's idol.

You could even say he nearly worships him.

So why does Monica have feelings for someone they don't even know actually exists?

The reason was simple.

It is one of the many reasons Monica chose this job.

Namely---

---Monica's life was once saved---

---By the legendary White Man.
