Sekien no Inganock Website: Character Info

Info of this can be found on the official website here.

Gii, a man who reaches out to help others

A Cracking Doc who makes a living as a Wandering Doc in the city's lower tiers. He is a thin man with a perpetual sorrowful expression on his face.

Originally, he was a young medical student studying at an upper tier national Engine university. Having lost his parents at an early age, he saved up his tuition fees while working at a factory as a junior-level Engine technician. After studying hard, he was able to enroll in an upper-tier university to become a first-clas Doctor.

However, due to the collapse of the city and reality by the Revival which appeared all over the city of Inganock, most of the medical techniques he learned that were "purely for humans" learned at "medical facilities full of equipment" have lose their purpose and meaning. With it, he lost himself and fell into the depths of despair.

Ten years have passed since those dark days, and he had obtained new power and knowledge. In other words, he was a Cracking Doc with the knowledge to manipulate the Cracking Effect and the power of a Kikai that serves as a shield to protect him. Even now, when Inganock has turned into a Fantasy City where saving people have no meaning, he continues to reach out to others even if that someone were to die tomorrow.

(Kikai) Porshion (Early-Type)

A humanoid steel figure with a total length of 2.5 meters, resembling a human embedded with a number of Crack Engines in their whole body. Its noticeable feature is the wide-open space of its right eye.

Its usage of power summons various things from the Gate built into its chest.

Kia, a girl who consistently stands by and observes people (CV, Rino Kawashima)

A girl who sticks close to Gii, continuing to watch his life. Her eyes can even see Beautiful Things.

Her origins are unknown, and she knows not of whether she was from the upper or lower tiers, but her behavior makes her unsuited for the lower tiers. She met Gii at the end of the ten years when he wandered through the Fantasy City in despair, where she ends up working alongside him as the Wandering Doc. She rarely smiles and gives off the air of being quiet, but (contrary to her impression) her expressions are quite lively.

She continues to offer silently advice to Gii, who saved her life using the power of the Kikai. She is a rare person who smiles at everyone in the city's chaotic lower tiers.

Ati, a sighing woman, a cat who looks up to the sky (CV, Mahiru Nozuki)

A cynical girl who is full of brightness. She possesses an ample and agile body with sharp claws and a strong spirit. In truth, she is--

She was once the daughter of a merchant family that lived in the upper tiers, but two years after the Revival, characteristics of the fantasy race Pucelle manifested in her body due to a Taboo Infection. Her original name was Ati Custos, but the Custos Family no longer exists.

She has cat ears atop her head and has a golden eye (a golden eye shaped like a cat and slightly larger than a human's) in her right eye that's different from a human's.

Overall, she has the physical characteristics of a "black cat". In order for her to survive, she has implanted some Crack Engines in her body and has placed herself in a lot of trouble.

Kerkan, a man who understands salvation and wishes for death

An assassin donned in grey clothes. He is classified by the upper and lower tiers as a Class-1 danger being, a personification of the world's denial and affirmation of death.

He kills people with a blade and the Cracking Effect in hand, stating that death is the sole salvation in Inganock. Those who are injured, those who are sick--in other words, the "weak" die.  Everything is taken away by him, the providence that the people had no choice but to believe in is also the city law established by the Archduke.

Initially, he was an executioner who went from the upper tiers to the lower tiers. However, his blade currently doesn't discriminate between upper tier nobles and lower tier citizens, only wielded to those according to his judgment. He became death itself, and separated himself from the law.

He holds clear animosity towards Gii, who is deeply involved with the people who were supposed to die.

(Kikai) Xerxes

A Kikai that brings about death, giving the impression of the Grim Reaper. A steel body with a total length of 3 meters, characterized by its gaping, skull-like eye sockets. It looks like a human, but has  long arms and only a tail-like spine that goes from the waist down.

It normally doesn't exist anywhere but unlike Gii's Kikai, Kerkan can summon it at will.

Ruaha, the Steel Girl who continues to be human (CV, Aoyama Yukari)

A Steel Girl known as a masterless "automaton" who had lost her threads. She is an imperfect Engine Human who spends most of her days in "pause" without so much as blinking. Her ego and emotions are very weak.

However, she is more "human" than anyone else, locking herself away in search for what she has lost.

Although she doesn't usually react to other humans or solely gives out machine expressions, she is able to communicate with Kia without exchanging words, eventually listening to what she has to say and becoming more docile and affectionate.

Iru, an old traveler who observes people

An eternal traveler who seems to know about the "outside" of the city. He is a wise bystander, with a radiance of deep thought and intellect in his eyes.

He is donned in tattered traveling clothes, always walking to somewhere. It is rumored that he's very strong, but the truth is unknown.

During his journey, he simply observes various people.

Grimm-Grimm, the masked clown who lurks in the darkness of the heart

The illusion of a masked clown that frequently appears in Gii's "sight". Occasionally, it would appear in his sight in reality or in his dreams to give him some riddles.

Gii concluded that they were a sub-species of the "Clown", a type of Fantasy Creature that is the embodiment of the world's cruelty with a will.

Archduke Astaire, the delusional king who rules the city

The king of the city of Inganock, the Archduke of fear and insanity. He is said to be the only person who knows the truth of the Revival, but the truth is unknown.

He is a grand noble who guided the people that were filled with despair and confusion caused by the Revival ten years ago, devising the Cracking Effect and Crack Engines as well as a creating a "sort of co-existence" with Fantasy Creatures.

It is rumored that he would occasionally give orders to the Upper Tier Soldiers, heavily armed Engine Humans, to perform bizarre and cruel human experiments on the lower tiers, becoming feared by them as the "Mad Lord".

Lemure Lemure, the young messenger boy who laughes as the City's madness (CV, Rita)

Owner of the original and strongest Kikai, someone who is the closest to the Beautiful Things yet so infinitely distant.

Their spirit is full of fear, madness, joy, and bliss.

He is caged in the innermost depths of a 1st-class blockade building in the upper tiers of the city Archduke Astaire spent three years building, where all activities other than life are blocked off. It's rumored by some of the nobles that he is the very reason for the Revival in the city of Inganock.

Eralee Barnes

A doctor from a med-sized clinic from the lower tiers, and a friend of Gii's from college.

He has a soft personality, and his trademarks are his stubble and ill-fitted glasses.

He is one of the few "pure humans (referred to as humans who have not been mutated by a Taboo Infection nor outfitted themselves with Crack Engines)", but they have a mutation that caused their heart to be split into two.

Old Turtle Man of Receivers Shop (Stanislaw)

An old man who runs a receivers shop in the city's lower tiers. Despite turning into a Purkol, a fantasy race resembling turtles, he still runs the business he inherited from his parents just as he had prior to the Revival.

Gii often calls for this man whenever he needed to obtain illegal upper tier medical drugs or valuable drugs found in the city before the Revival.

He is also a fixer who represents the lower tiers, arranging profitable businesses for Runners like Ati. He is just as knowledgable as an informant, said to have gotten along with some of the upper tiers aristocrats.

Salem (CV, Kaori)

Gii's former friend, and a former medical student.

Like Gii, she lost herself during the Revival ten years ago. The path she chose at the ends of despair was to stand by the man. Salem herself had become a prostitute.

While she appears to be a gentle woman at first glance, her eyes are dull.

Black-clad child (CV, Kaori)

A child whose hair is always wet and wanders into the city's lower tiers.

Guided by Iru, they walk through the city's lower tiers where they meet Gii and the others.

Her reason for being there is unknown as she hardly speaks, but it seems as though she's there to fulfill a promise...

Snake Woman of the Opium Den (Alisa Greg)

A snake woman who runs an Opium Den/Brothel in a corner of the lower tiers. She is the mistress of the Opium Den who is open to pleasuring anyone, from hard-earned workers to anyone who is relatively wealthy without discrimination.

She is one of the few people in the city who understands Gii.

Children (Paru & Lupo & Porun)

A human girl (Paru), a human boy (Lupo), and a snake girl (Porun).

Three young children who are always together and smiling. They appear to be siblings but aren't blood-related.

They are lower-tier citizens who live right next to Gii, their real parents having passed away. They make their ends meet through working as a clerk under a master at an Engine factory.

Agnes (CV, Yuki Matsunaga) and Francisca (CV, Kaori)

Small twins who live in the lower tiers working as informants.

Both of them are Pan, or Goat People whose limbs are hoof-like covered in animal hair.

Although they are certainly children age-wise, they have a lot more experience in life than most adults. They are battle-hardned informants whose familiarity of the world is enough to make even Gii laugh. However, it's said that their egotistic aura from their informal tones holds them back as informants.

Vonnegut

An elderly, dark-skinned fisherman. He is an elder man afflicted with both the Steam Disease caused by continuously inhaling Engine exhaust smoke, and the Taboo Infection that caused his body to mutate into a fantasy race. An untracable disease caused by the combination of these 2 illnesses caused his body to mutate not from the outside but fatally changed his internal organs and genes (although such a concept does not exist in Inganock), making it impossible to treat the body externally.

He is the grandfather of the children (Agnes and Francisca).

He works as a fisherman in a hut next to the 2nd Reservoir.

David

A young Paldes who lives in the lower tiers where he works a delivery man and Runner.

He is Ati's work colleague.

Horse Kid

A female Taurus who works as a librarian at the Engine Archives Building in the City Skyscraper. She is an employee of the City Management Department.

She is one of the few "bookworms" in the city.

Dorothy Woodstock (CV, Yuki Matsunaga)

She constantly plays an Engine organ.

She was the daughter of an upper tier aristocrat, but her body became infected with Arboritis, turning her body into a youki and was abandoned by her parents into the lower tiers, who feared their entire family would be executed under the city's law.

Just as she was on the verge of death, she was founded by an old dog lizard named Smith, who took her in as his adopted daughter but was unable to go outside so as to evade the upper tiers eyes, causing her spirit to be trapped inside. And, due to the Youki which responds inversely in proportion to her mental state, she approaches death.

Mies

A young boy with great will and skill. He is sometimes mistaken for a girl due to his soft features despite possessing a dashing personality.

He is in a relatively happy situation among the lower tier citizens, with his parents being alive and having a home.

He holds animosity towards Gii who is beyond his reach as an "adult", and is attracted to Kia.

Magdal (CV, Rino Kawashima)

A female Pucelle. To escape the grief of losing her husband and her son, she immersed herself from a new drug that came from the upper tiers. It is something she could escape from, a woman who is in despair.

She constantly has a somewhat resigned look on her face.

Joshua

A young boy with winged arms, possessing the characteristics of a Paldes. He lost his mother to a new drug introduced from the upper tiers. He is currently adopted by an elder woman, but it appears they had not yet come home and thus, simply wanders the lower tiers. He seems to be in search for something, and refers to himself with "Boku" and "Ore"...

(Kikai) Oro

A Kikai whose host is Joshua, a boy who lost his mother. It seems that when Joshua remembers his past, despair and anger comes along with it, where it then takes Joshua in its body in a state of semi-consciousness. The image gives off the appearance of a cradle with arms.
