Some time, in the year 1908 of the Common Era──
There was a world with a different history than the one we know.
A world that chose a different story than the one we saw.
Due to the final plan of the supernational organization, the West India Company, also known as the Society, gathering all of the world's evil in Europe, the whole earth is facing a big and great imminent crisis.
It all began with the death of the great enemy of the Society, Nikola Tesla, in 1866.
In this state, the world will continue to collapse.
But──
Here was a group of warriors who confronted evil.
Confronting the injustice and treason that continued attacking innocent people was the last Fortress of Hope!
Leading them was a golden radiant masked warrior!
His name is the unparalleled Golden King──Christain Rosenkreuz!!
Christian Rosenkreuz
The last hope of the world. The strongest scientist clad in a golden mask.
He is the leader of the Fortress of Hope, who confronts the evil of the Society, at times with his wisdom, at times with the strongest science. With a sincere personality and strong spirit, he is the source of trust among peers.
In the past, he belonged to the Society and played a part in the plan of evil but after the death of Tesla in 1866, he awakened to Justice and stood up to save the world.
He isn't truly a human, but a member of the Great Race of Yith, an "earthling" from distant ancient times. His true form is a crustacean creature similar to the Bell, but it is said that only one person in the Fortress of Hope knows this.

Mary Clarrisa Christie
A student of the Marseille Offshore Academia City. Eventually became a member of the Fortress of Hope.
Cooperates with the Fortress of Hope in finding out the murder cases that occurred one after another in an Academia that was kept remarkably peaceful from the evil influence of the Society (In actuality, the Academia is a "school of hope" established by Rosenkreuz to protect the talented people. The school director protects the one hundred thousand students).
Rosenkreuz found promise in her talent, and had her join the team as Chief of Staff.
Later, she was granted the ability to intervene with fate due to Rosenkreuz's blessing.
Kerkan
A mysterious man who wields ice. For the time being, he belongs to the Fortress of Hope and has a special interest in Rosenkreuz, but is basically a mercenary. Neither the destruction of the world nor hope has anything to do with him. He has but one purpose: To take revenge on the demons of the Society that killed his sister.
He senses his sister in Mary, and watches her in secret.
Anna
A female soldier who draws blood from a strange desert. A member of the Fortress of Hope.
Her parents resonated with the ideals of Rosenkreuz and entrusted her to the Marseille Offshore Academia City where she spent her childhood there (her parents were later killed by the work of the Society).
Her body is outfitted with Engine technology called Inganock technology and is further blessed with Acceleration by Rosenkreuz, literally the fastest warrior to confront the Society.
She defeats enemies using pistol-based gun-fu (firearm martial arts).
She dislikes the young Athl who tends to daydream.
Athl
A young member of the Fortress of Hope. He is a great mechanic in addition to being a great flying boat fighter. His main workplace is a large engine room in the great flying ship Die Menschen, the mother ship of the Fortress of Hope.
By chance, he met Cellular da Vinci, the adoptive daughter of Magi (real name Cellular Breet. She has acquired the Golden Eyes and was kidnapped and brainwashed at a very young age by Magi to be the key to launch the Great Engine Hubris) met him, and fell in love.
Jeanne (Hilde)
A mysterious woman who wields fire. She is also a sword user.
Like Rosenkreuz, she was originally an executive of the Society. Empathizing with Rosenkreuz's beliefs, she is currently a member of the Fortress of Hope. Rosenkreuz trusts her more than anyone else to have her as his "right hand".
She loves the young Athl like a younger brother and child.
She isn't seen much in the Academia, but when she does she acts as the "vice principal".
Iru
Old teacher. A spiritual pillar for dozens of members of the Fortress of Hope.
A cat-like beast who came from a strange place, and a master of swords.
It is said that he knows the true identity and purpose of Magi, but the truth is unknown.
Magi (Leonardo da Vinci)
The greatest evil in the world. An independent man who condemns the mankind of earth.
Since 1866, he has been the leader of the evil supernational great society of the West India Company, also known as the Society.
He has the ability to control "all" that can or has been achieved by human hands. He plans to "rewrite" the world by obtaining the super ancient Great Engine Hubris, which sleeps at the end of the strange world of Kadath, and activate the Great Equation.

Cross Knight Zarathustra
A demon of the Society. His strong suggestion of Mesmerism suggests that he could easily control divisions of developed nations by "mutual destruction through killing". He is the most intelligent executive of the Society and has a side that is unlike the other demons.

Georgios
A demon of the Society. A man from the strange world of Kadath, his innate brain and cerebral mutation due to the Society have made him the strongest Cracking Effect user, thus literally making him the strongest manipulator of Cracking and it was rumored that no other demon except Magi can win against him.
A shadow of a human named "Ati", who is a black cat-human, always serves him.
Astaire
A demon of the Society. He is the strongest swordsman with Golden Eyes in the Society and a rider of a unique war machine. He operates a powerful Scholar-made fighter and has destroyed the United States army by his lonesome.
The White Mask of Death can be seen on him.
Cornelia
A demon of the Society. A special class flying boat rider who can freely operate the Scholar-type Annihilation flying boat with a special Babbage machine.
Astaire's fiance and lover.
Her nickname is Connie, but only Astaire calls her that.
In an unusual manner, she hates the Pucelles, a native race of Kadath.
Cathim
A demon of the Society. He can overwhelm his enemies with physical abilities unlike that in the base reality. Possesses three arms and wields three magical blades.
He is from a strange desert and has been fighting in a hellish labyrinth since childhood, thus he has lost all emotions and threatens the Fortress of Hope as a cold killing machine.
Mister Weishaupt
A Scholar who doesn't belong to any power. He was more than halfway insane when he witness Magi's weapon of destruction, the False God, at the end of the last century. Possessing an independent laboratory, he continued his research on the bloody madness and produced "Machina".
Lily
A girl who visits on the "subway" that flies from the ends of the sky.
She once saved Rosenkruez from a predicament and came to give him some words, but her whereabouts after is unknown (She disappeared somewhere on the flying subway).
The only thing in this work...
Machina
The last possibility.
The name given to them due to their ability is The Steam by both the Fortress of Hope and the Society.
They are the answer to the "killing of Magi" by Mister Weishaupt, a synthetic human based on Nikola Tesla's information. To be precise, they are an egg of a replica of the "Nio-fit N type", which was nurtured from the information child of the young girl Smilja (who died with Tesla at the time) which lead to the death of Nikola Tesla in 1866, and created by injecting 33 stored/recorded information about Nikola Tesla.
Eventually, they were adopted by Rosenkreuz and together they challenged Magi in the final battle.
